Gotham Grill Review
The Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill is the only griller that has both convection and infrared cooking technologies.
A few of the features include:
- Stainless Steel Surface = Easy Cleaning
- Electronic Thermostat with LCD Display = Consistent Cooking Temperature
- Innovative Design (e.g., Hinged Lid = Ease of Opening & Closing)
- Dishwasher Safe Cooking Grid
- Front and Rear Grease Trays = Easy Cleaning
- Removable Lithium Battery Pack = Convenient Charging Capability
2. Smoke-less Technology
Unlike other indoor grills, the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill does not use charcoal or propane, which contribute to unhealthy CO emissions in your household. With this grill, you can save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional grilling methods by as much as 80%.
The smokeless technology is made possible by the infrared heating element, which cooks 95% of your food with radiant heat. Convection technology, which circulates hot air around the food to ensure even cooking, rounds out the cooking process.
Infrared grilling may sound a bit scary. What if you get injured by the infrared waves? The answer is quite simple—you can’t.
This technology uses heat within the visible light spectrum (780-400 nm) and microwaves (700-300nm).
Both of these forms of radiant energy are safe to use around food because they do not have enough power to break the molecular bonds of water. This energy is also selective, which means that it only heats your food and not the surrounding environment.
If you don’t believe me, then do the following: put your hand directly in front of the infrared heaters. Hold it there for about 30 seconds. You’llYou’ll notice that your hand won’t get burnt or injured in any way. The only thing that will occur is that it’ll feel slightly warm to the touch.
Another source of misinformation is about “infrared radiation” (which is not the same as infrared heat), caused by ultraviolent and cosmic rays, which have enough energy to break those molecular bonds.
This is why you can get sunburned when you are outside, and it’s sunny (UV radiation), or have your DNA damaged by radiation through flying in an airplane (cosmic rays).
The bottom line here is that infrared heat from the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill will not harm you. It will, on the contrary, benefit your health by cooking your food faster and more evenly.
Easy to clean grills are very desirable in any household. They do not get as dirty as conventional grills because the food doesn’t stick to the surface.
The Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill is no exception to this rule—the stainless steel surface and the grease trays make it very easy to clean.
Another pro to the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill is that you do not have to deal with the charcoal, lighter fluid, or propane. You can grill your food anywhere with an outlet.
Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill cooks very quickly (more in the Pros section). The grilling area is also large enough to cook a decent amount of food; compare it to other indoor grills with a cooking surface capacity of around 185 square inches to see the difference.
This grill cooks very quickly as compared to other indoor grills. The infrared technology does not require preheating, so you can cook immediately after turning this device on.
Another pro for this device is that it is easy to clean, which is a big plus in my opinion. When it comes to indoor grills that use propane or charcoal, they are straightforward to clean both before and after grilling your food.
These devices can be cleaned thoroughly with soap and water (or placed in the dishwasher). Grilling mats on top of the grill are also very easy to clean. There is no need to purchase extra accessories to grill your food—use what you get in the box and clean it when you are done!
How does Gotham compare to other Smokeless Indoor Grills?
1. Gotham vs. Power Smokeless Grill
The Gotham Grill has a larger grilling area (295 sq. in.) than the Power Smokeless Indoor Grill’sGrill’s 161.7 sq. in… Size does matter when it comes to cooking your food, as people who have used both of these devices will tell you!
The Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill has more features than the Power Smokeless Indoor Grill.
The Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill has a temperature control that allows you to cook your food at any temperature from room temp up to 746 degrees (thereby cooking faster and more evenly). Power Smokeless Grill only goes up to 450 degrees F, not covering the entire temperature spectrum.
Gotham also has a handy “cooking guide” area, which tells you the estimated cooking time for all meats (poultry, seafood, beef, lamb, and pork) in four different categories: Cold/Rare Medium Well Done.
This is very helpful for people interested in preparing healthier meals or those who are new to indoor grilling.
2. Gotham vs. Chefman Smokeless Grill
Chefman is the newest smokeless indoor grill in today’s market—it was just released in December of 2012. The main difference is that a company building grills make one for over 20 years while a new company just released the other.
Chefman has a smaller grilling area at 141 sq. in., which can be an issue for those who like to cook large meals, especially if you are feeding more than four people. It also has more minor cooking settings than the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill.
Chefman has the temperature control that Gotham has. Still, it only goes up to 450 degrees F. It also does not have any “cooking guide” features I mentioned in my review of the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill (this feature may be added later).
Chefman has a small grease tray underneath, which is very helpful for those who do not want to have a mess on the countertop. However, it has a smaller surface area than the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill’sGrill’s larger grease tray (I will discuss it in my Cons section).
3. Gotham vs. T fal Smokeless Indoor Grill
The T fal Smokeless Grill has a smaller grilling area at 169.6 sq. in. The Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill and the Chefman Smokeless Grill have much larger areas to cook your food (295 and 141 square inches, respectively).
T fal does not have temperature control, but it cooks very well, from what I have heard. There is also a grease tray underneath, but it does not handle as much food as the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill or the Chefman Smokeless Grill.
Is the Gotham Smokeless Indoor Grill worth it?
That depends entirely on how often you use it. It is not a necessary product, but if you are tired of paying for take-out or cooking your food in the oven, then this will be a great addition to your kitchen arsenal.
It is fun to watch the smoke rise from this grill and makes people feel like they are at a steak house or outdoor barbecue (depending on the sauce).
If you already own a smokeless indoor grill, then the cost of this device may be too much. However, if money is not an issue for you, I recommend purchasing it because you will undoubtedly get your money’s worth out of it!
How do I clean my Gotham Grill?
Unplug your grill and let it cool down. Once the grill has cooled, empty any grease stuck onto the inside of the tray with a sponge soaked in hot water mixed with soap.
Scrape off anything that doesn’t come off quickly using a glass-ceramic scraper or steel wool pads while being careful not to scratch up surfaces as you go along, then wipe away all loose debris left behind with a damp cloth.
Is the Gotham grill dishwasher safe?
Gotham Steel’sSteel’s new smokeless grill is the ingenious way to cook indoors without all that smoky air. The convenient temperature dial maintains perfect heat across its whole surface, ensuring you get your favorite dishes grilled just right every time- and never have to deal with blackened pots or pans!
And not only does this nifty device make grilling healthy meals easy as pie, but it makes super cleanup fun too. Just place it in the dishwasher for quick cleanups after any occasion…or even everyday cooking.
Can foil catch on fire?
Aluminum foil is not flammable and can only catch fire at very high temperatures. Aluminum foil won’t catch fire until it reaches approximately 1220 Fahrenheit (660 Celsius).
The concern with aluminum foil, heat, and flames is that most people cook on a stovetop or grill outdoors to sear their food for delicious flavorings like barbeque sauce!
Gotham Grill has a lot to offer. They have the best customer service, faster than their competitors, and excellent food quality.
If you’ve been thinking about buying an indoor grill that produces less smoke for your home or office environment but can still produce high-quality meats, then look no further!
Florentinesgrill highly recommends checking out this company before making any other purchases because it will be money well spent.
